I’m going to shower you with kisses every morning.
That’s my revenge.
Like a stalker, Im going to follow you around everyday.
Buy you everything you want
Never cheat on you
I’m only going to look out for you
I will never let you shed another teardrop
I will make you the world’s happiest queen
I will love you alone until the day I die
That’s my revenge.

The King 2 Hearts
This greatness has ended as of today, leaving me with a heavy heart.
From the beginning, I chose this drama among the three on air at the same time. I knew this was going to be good. But I didn’t expect the depth the content threw at me. As a teaser, they led us on, making us believe that this drama would be a romantic comedy in a fantasy-Korea, between a prince of the South and a female general of the North. They dropped words like “black comedy” here and there, but never really explained anything. And then, we were bombarded with sharp words criticizing us and the world that we have created through make-believe characters living in an what-if world that so closely resembles our own. It talks about money, power, justification, politics, media, history, death, love, family, relationships, humans.
But that was only the icing of the cake. What this drama aimed to do from the first week it aired was to show how Korea, the only split-apart nation in the world, can bring peace to its lands — through two genuine hearts open to each other that waits and acts to cooperate. Now that sounds really epic, but it’s more unrealistic than it sounds. Because it is a drama, we see how this is done in the lives of the two main characters Lee JaeHa, who eventually becomes the King, and Kim HangAh, the female general and fiancee of JaeHa. But in the end, we understand that it is possible, no matter what the circumstances because these two have shown us how its done through their growth, both personal and official.
I’m not saying that I have no complaints. It was distracting how the main female character, Kim HangAh was very out of focus for the latter half of the drama until the last two episodes. I was also uncomfortable realizing that the only peaceful method that Lee JaeHa used to settle any problems the world or the two nations themselves had between each other was through revealing romantic relationships with Kim HangAh. Yes, they were very powerful diplomatic weapons, but when that runs out, what do we come to? In reality, we have no King or Prince. We only have that rotten bag of a Prime Minister who only knows how to talk. Also, in some episodes, the story processes so slowly, like we were just sent to run in circles.
But despite all this, I recommend everyone to watch this drama. Combining this heavy-weight content to the great actors this drama was blessed with, I believe that it should have hit the 30% mark in viewer rates. But just as “Tree With Deep Roots” was too much of a puzzle to the viewer who seeks rest at 10o’clock rather than stressful contemplations, the topic of this drama was a bit too heavy and complex. Also, I know that many Korean people would rather avoid this subject rather than deal with it. But I think this was almost a blessing to 2012. South Korea now faces the Presidential election as well as a new “opponent” leader called  Kim JungEun in the North. This drama has raised an awareness, at least in the people that watched it, that pleads LOVE PEACE, NOT POWER.
I know I wouldn’t have written this review of this drama if the last episode has not been so heart-wrenching. But really. It’s a great drama. You should watch it when you have time.
